Acadia National Park: Collectible Cards
Chris Wills
Your kids can now collect Acadia National Park.
The newest card in the DuckAbroad Travel collection celebrates Maine’s coastal treasure. Acadia holds a special place in national park history: the first national park east of the Mississippi River and still the only one in the northeastern United States. President Woodrow Wilson established it as Sieur de Monts National Monument in 1916. It became Lafayette National Park in 1919, then was renamed Acadia in 1929.
Why Acadia works for families
Acadia packs ocean views, granite peaks, and accessible trails into a compact park. You can drive the Park Loop Road, climb Cadillac Mountain for sunrise (the first place in the U.S. to see dawn during fall and winter), and explore tide pools at Sand Beach. The carriage roads offer flat, stroller-friendly paths through the forest. Jordan Pond provides easy loops with mountain views.
Most families base themselves in Bar Harbor, a walkable town with ice cream shops, lobster rolls, and the Shore Path. The town sits minutes from park entrances.
